Futures/Barrel Tasting
Join owner and winemaker Charles Massoud in Paumanok's barrel cellar to taste wine from barrel. The barrel tasting of the 2009 vintage reds and barrel fermented chardonnay will be held on Saturday & Sunday, November 6 & 7, 2010, and Saturday & Sunday, November 20 & 21 , 2010. Available times are at 11 AM and 12, 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 PM, at which time case futures will be offered.
A futures contract is a purchase of wine by the case at a significant discount to the projected retail price with pick up at a future date (once the wine is bottled, usually about six to eight months later).
We will be drawing samples of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. We will also be serving samples of our 2009 Barrel Fermented Chardonnay, which has already been bottled and will be available to purchase and take home with you.
We will be using large Riedel lead crystal glasses to taste the wines, which will be accompanied by an assortment of fine cheeses, breads and pâté. This year we are pleased that the cheese has been supplied by Fresh Direct, www.freshdirect.com. There is a $20/person fee to attend. This fee will be waived if you purchased 2008 vintage futures or if you purchase 2009 vintage futures or if you are a member of the Paumanok Wine Club or Paumanok Grand Vintage Club.
If you are unable to attend this event, but would still like to take advantage of case futures, details regarding the 2009 growing season, descriptions of the 2009 vintage wines, and future case prices will be available at the time of the barrel tasting and can be faxed or mailed to you. Should you choose to purchase futures, you will be notified of the wines' release dates and will be able to pick up your wine after that time.
